The Final Report of the EU expert group on Entrepreneurship in higher education, especially within non-business studies was published on 16 April. The primary purpose of entrepreneurship education at university is to develop entrepreneurial capacities and mindsets. The teaching of entrepreneurship has yet to be sufficiently integrated into university curricula – indeed it is necessary to make entrepreneurship education accessible to all students as innovative business ideas may arise from technical, scientific or creative studies.
The Expert Report explores key issues regarding the teaching of entrepreneurship in higher education, identifies existing obstacles and proposes a range of solutions, taking into account the different levels of responsibility (public policy, institutions, educators and relevant stakeholders). The NCGE is commended for the International Entrepreneurship Education Programme, for its work on linking the desired entrepreneurial behaviours and skills to be acquired by students (outcomes of education) to the appropriate pedagogies to be used in order to reach the expected result, and as an entrepreneurship network organisation (like IDEA in Denmark and FGF in Germany) which encourages the sharing of good practice.
